Los Angeles Travel Tips

Traveling to Los Angeles? Like everything in LA, traveling can sometimes be overwhelming. SafeRide Transport has some travel tips to help make the freeways bearable and your vacations stress free. Experience Los Angeles on us. The city of Angels has something for everyone: beaches, mountains, attractions, great restaurants, and more. Make the most of the Los Angeles with our travel tips.

Splurge A Bit

A travel budget is a must. Don’t waste money on things you don’t need, but it’s okay to splurge. Book a night at one of Los Angeles more posh hotels or check out some of the more high-end restaurants that LA is known for. It’s okay to look for deals and save money, but don’t miss out on great experiences or walk 10 miles to save a couple bucks.

You Have Options for Airports

There’s more than just Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). LAX is the best-known and busiest airport in LA, but there are lots of flight options. You can find affordable alternatives at Burbank (BUR), Orange County's John Wayne Airport (SNA) and Long Beach (LGB). SafeRide Transport can provide airport car services from LAX, BUR, SNA, and LGB. If you're headed to Long Beach, we have a travel guide for that, too.

Los Angeles is Big

In fact, the city of Los Angeles is multiple cities split into the Valley and the Basin. The Valley includes the warmer northern suburbs and the Basin includes the beachfront towns on the Westside, south of the Santa Monica Mountains. Neighborhoods like Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood are actually separate cities that are sandwiched in the middle of LA. Make a plan and visit all the different iconic spots that the Los Angeles area has to offer.

There are Lots of Beaches

Remember that there are 70 miles of coastline in Los Angeles… that’s a lot of beach. Most people only think of Santa Monica Pier and Venice Boardwalk, but Los Angeles is full of amazing beaches. From the cliffs of Point Dume State Beach to the sunsets at El Matador State Beach, there’s a beach that’s great for you. Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach are perfect for rollerblades, bicyclists, and runners. Explore all the beaches LA has to offer.

Downtown Los Angeles is Not the Best Tourist Spot

Because Los Angeles is so spread out, unlike most cities downtown is not the best place to start for a tourist. It’s not quite the same sort of bustling city filled with historic landmarks and great shopping you’d find in New York. It’s not a bad downtown, but definitely not the best place to start for visiting tourists. There are some great locations to visit still including Grand Central Market, Little Tokyo, and Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Know the Weather

We like to think of LA is beach time all year long, but the parts of Los Angeles can have very different temperatures throughout the year. Santa Monica is often cooler than downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena can be even hotter. Know the weather of particular areas you plan to travel.

There’s More than One Way to Travel

You used to need a car and fight the notorious freeways yourself, but ridesharing services have changed how people travel in Los Angeles. However, there are still other great transportation services available in LA that you may not know about. Public transportation systems include six Metro lines and two dedicated bus ways. SafeRide Transport also offers a variety of luxury sedans, SUVs, passenger vans and stretch limousines. Vans and SUVs are perfect for group transportation in LA.
